Therapist ( Residential Drug and Alcohol)

Schedule: Tuesday  through Saturday

This position provides complex counseling and treatment services in a residential treatment facility. Involves utilization of various therapeutic methods and techniques as applicable to adults, youth, and/or families experiencing problems related to addiction, mental health, and family crisis. Provides individual, group, and family therapy.

Position Qualification:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a CAC. Certain positions may require a Master’s degree. Knowledge in the following areas: dynamics of addiction and recovery, mental health disorders, and case management services. Experience in the delivery of counseling services to chemically dependent persons and their families. Ability to provide comprehensive treatment planning, group facilitation skills, and family therapy; to utilize community resources; to maintain expected paperwork; and, to work as part of a team. Act 33/34 clearances. Must possess valid PA Driver’s License. Schedule may require working evenings and weekends as required. Mandatory overtime may be required. Must be available for on-call status and carry pager. Certain positions require health assessment upon hire and every year thereafter. Because of our treatment philosophy, persons diagnosed with chemical dependency must be abstinent for at least 2 years prior to employment and remain abstinent throughout employment.
Preferred: Master’s degree and/or Certified Addiction Certification. Experience and knowledge of 12 Step Philosophy.

Essential Functions*/Accountabilities:
1) Implements and maintains the service’s philosophy, principles, and procedures in all facets of performance.
2) Prepares or assists in preparation and implementation of service/treatment and educational plans and goals.
3) Completes timely and accurate documentation of case records as per D&A licensing regulations.
4) Communicates, collaborates, and meets with staff, families, external agencies, and/or others as necessary to support services to clients and the mission of the agency.
5) Assesses and evaluates using PA Placement Criteria (PCPA). Completes intake.
6) Provides individual, group, and family therapy.
7) Develops and implements behaviorally specific drug and alcohol and mental health treatment plans.
8) Presents client information and works collaboratively with other team members, Supervisor, Director, Psychiatrist/Psychologist, and/or PCP in providing treatment.
9) Intervenes directly to prevent, identify, or deal with crisis situations, using de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, individual, and group strategies.
10) Maintains weekly utilization as set by supervisor.
11) Take responsibility for professional growth and development through participation in supervision, staff meetings, and training.
12) Orients new employees, interns, and volunteers.
13) Safely operates a motor vehicle to accompany clients to appointments
14) Provides adequate and timely documentation to UR staff or third party payers to ensure continual authorization of services.

Working Conditions: Position is situated in a 16-bed inpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility located in the Allentown section of Pittsburgh. May require visits to homes, schools, and high-risk environments. Exposure to clients with substance abuse, mental illness, and/or communicable diseases may occur. There may be a loud noise level at the facility due to babies’ and children’s activities.
