Mental Health Worker - Family-Based

Salary:  $29,000 - $30,000

 

Overview:

The Family-Based Mental Health Worker provides highly responsible and complex counseling and treatment services in the home and community settings.  The work includes utilization of various therapeutic methods and techniques as applicable to youth and/or families experiencing problems related to mental health and family crisis.  The Family-Based Mental Health Worker provides both individual and family crisis intervention work and must be a specialist in Structural Family Therapy Model as maintained by WPIC.  This position has flexible scheduling needs and can include working evening and weekend hours.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Participate in all staff development, training and meetings as required.
Provide on-the-job training to new hires as assigned by supervisor.
Implements and maintains the Family-Based program’s philosophy, principles, and procedures in all facets of performance.
Provides individual and family therapy with children, adolescents and families.
Assessment of strengths and therapeutic needs of child and family. 
Determination of any necessary family support services or related case management service including other involved professionals, of a plan to obtain identified services.
Determination of the clinical need for special evaluations and services.
Complete timely and accurate documentation per assigned standards.
Provides crisis intervention on an on-call rotation.
Maintain productivity and utilization standards as determined by the Supervisor

 

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mental Health, Psychology, Nursing, Education, Counseling or Social Work with a minimum of one years experience in a CASSP system (employed by or under contract to Children and Youth Services, Juvenile Justice, Mental Health, Special Education or Drug and Alcohol working with children) or employed by a licensed mental health services agency.   A licensed registered nurse (RN) with five years experience including one years experience in a CASSP system program plus have certification by the Department’s Office of Mental Health (OMH) as a mental health family-based worker. 

Planning and time management and strong organizational skills.

Successfully participate with the three-year WPIC training program in Structural Family Therapy.

A valid driver’s license along with access to a vehicle.

Management of work processes along with strong computer skills for documentation purposes.

Ability to main confidential information within HIPAA guidelines and organizational policies.

Ability to be flexible especially with scheduling and site locations and to perform and prioritize multiple functions and tasks.

Communication along with professionalism.

Support the organization’s mission along with sensitivity of cultural and workplace harmony.
