Case Manager - Residential Drug and Alcohol

Position Summary:  The Case Manager provides case management and highly responsible supportive services for an inpatient residential recovery program for addicted mothers and their children.  Case management services will utilize a 12-Step philosophy.

Hourly Rate:  $12.00 - $12.50

Location:  the Allentown section of Pittsburgh

Position Qualifications:

A High School Diploma or equivalent diploma and a combination of five years of education and/or relevant experience.A Bachelor’s degree in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Services or a related discipline is preferred.CAC certification is also preferred.

A demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of chemically dependent persons and families required.

Demonstrated successful ability to provide case management; knowledge of community resources and other support services.

Knowledge of children, adolescent and families’ development and the 12-Step Philosophy necessary.Because of our treatment philosophy, persons identified or been diagnosed with an alcohol or other drug dependence be abstinent for at least five (5) years prior to employment and remain abstinent throughout employment.

Schedule requires working days, evenings, and weekends as necessary.

Planning and time management and good organizational skills.

A valid driver’s license as driving the Familylinks vehicle is necessary.

Management of work processes along with good computer skills for documentation purposes including experience with Windows XP, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office.

Ability to main confidential information within HIPAA guidelines and organizational policies.

Ability to be flexible especially with scheduling and to perform and prioritize multiple functions and tasks.

Communication along with professionalism.

Support the organization’s mission along with sensitivity of cultural and workplace harmony.

Primary Responsibilities:

Implements and maintains the agency’s mission, vision, and values in all facets of performance.
Implements and maintains the program’s philosophy of the12 Step--principles and procedures in all facets of performance.
Provides case management and support and follow-up services for the two program sites.
Responsible for implementing weekly life skills group.
Works collaboratively with the AOD Therapist to help clients explore and achieve educational and/or vocational goals.
Completes timely and accurate documentation of case records.
Intervenes directly to identify, prevent or deal with crisis situations, using crisis intervention techniques including de-escalation and conflict resolution.
Takes responsibility for own learning and professional development.
Safely operates a motor vehicle to accompany clients in viewing prospective housing sites.
Participates in clinical team meetings.
Establishes positive working relationships both internal and external with resources referring to the program.
May be required to assist with direct care job duties at times.
Responsible for the effective coordination of services with other service providers.
Performs monitored urinalysis testing on clients to ensure abstinence.
Teaches parenting and recovery life skills per treatment plans.
Provides follow-up for clients as they move through the continuum of care.
Responsible for assisting clients in scheduling all supportive services appointments.         
Attend all meetings, supervisions and trainings as required.

Working Conditions:

Work is completed within the drug and alcohol facility and may include travel to other facilities.

Position is situated in two inpatient drug and alcohol treatment facilities.

There may be a loud noise level at the facility due to babies’ and children’s activities.

Physical Requirements of being able to lift up to 20 pounds with walking, standing and steps as needed.

Must be able to drive to the various office or community locations as assigned.

Work with clients who have complex needs, including but not limited to: mental health; alcohol and other drugs; communicable diseases; verbal and physical aggression.
