Mentor Coordinator

Salary:  $29,000 - $30,000

Position Summary:  The Mentor Coordinator is responsible for the Mentoring Initiative providing comprehensive approaches to mentoring homeless and at-risk youth between the ages of 16 and 21 participating in Familylinks programs to aid in preparing the youth for transition to adulthood and to independent living.

  • Position Qualifications:    A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or a related field along with minimally four years of relevant experience.  Previous experience in youth development programs is a plus.   A valid PA driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle as traveling to various locations is a requirement of the position.   A minimum of two years supervising staff is required as the position will supervise two Youth Support Partners.
  • The ability to engage mentors and mentees in a professional and courteous manner along with the ability to prioritize and be flexible with scheduling of work hours.  The Mentor Coordinator must possess strong computer skills.   Some knowledge of mental health along with drug and alcohol issues is recommended.  The Mentor Coordinator must be able to interact with a variety of diverse individuals and external resources while maintaining a positive, professional, and mentor-focused manner with an ever-changing population.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

• Support the organization’s mission along with sensitivity of cultural and workplace harmony.

• Responsible for Mentor selection, scheduling and training.

• Providing for the Mentee Readiness and Mentee Personality Profile survey sessions.

• Monitoring the Mentor and Mentee relationships along with the collecting and reporting of all data outcomes and information.

• Recruitment of Mentors and Mentees including scheduling outreach and public speaking about the Mentoring Initiative internally as well as external resources.

• Interacts with all Mentors minimally once a month conducting mentor debriefings to identify areas of progress and /or difficulties.

• Ongoing support and assistance to Mentors and Mentees all the time during the mentoring relationship.

• Supports both the Mentor and the Mentee if a transition to a new Mentee is necessary.

• Completes written and verbal documentation of mentoring services, critical incidents and other required documents in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.

• Responsible for training the Familylinks Engagement Specialists to provide support and technical assistance to youth in the areas of career planning, housing, education, employment, medical, and life skills development.

• Provides transportation to accompany youth to transition-to-adulthood activities when required.

• Participates in all assigned meetings, supervision and trainings
